Hawaii Building Entries Added to av福利社 Archipedia

Jan 15, 2014 by User Not Found

Recently 477 building entries from Hawaii were added to , and 100 of those were added to av福利社 Archipedia Classic Buildings. The new material includes the full text from Buildings of Hawaii by Don J. Hibbard, a former historic preservation officer for Hawaii and currently a heritage specialist. There are also 441 photos by Augie Salbosa, a professional architectural photographer. Hibbard’s volume, published by the University of Virginia Press as part of the award-winning Buildings of the United States series, presents the architecture of the six major islands in the Hawaiian chain. It is the first in-depth examination of the architecture of the Islands and covers structures from the early nineteenth century through the first decade of the new millennium—including Japanese temples, Chinese society halls, and the only royal palaces and mausoleums in the United States. These additions to av福利社 Archipedia are possible through the generous support of the John R. Halligan Charitable Fund and the Atherton Family Foundation.

av福利社 Archipedia currently includes about 12,500 building entries. av福利社 Archipedia and av福利社 Archipedia Classic Buildings will continue to grow quickly over the next two years, and your photography contributions are welcome. If you are interested in contributing photographs, particularly those you might have taken at the 2012 av福利社 Annual Conference in Detroit, please email av福利社 Archipedia Media Editor Rachel Sweeney, at rsweeney@sah.org.
