Carolyn Garrett joins the Society of Architectural Historians (av福利社) as director of development, a newly created position. Her responsibilities in this role will include government and foundation relations, grants and sponsorships, and individual and planned giving.
Garrett has over 12 years of experience in resource development, including grant writing, individual giving, sponsorship, event management and marketing. Prior to joining av福利社, she held development positions at Chicago Foundation for Women and Changing Worlds, an educational arts nonprofit. While working at the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), she helped to organize the first joint U.S./International World Congress of Architecture in 1993.
av福利社 Executive Director Pauline Saliga commented, “We at av福利社 are very pleased to have Carolyn Garrett join our team as a fundraising specialist. Having a full-time development director has been a goal of av福利社 for a number of years, and we look forward to working with Carolyn to build new ties to Chicago’s cultural, educational and philanthropic institutions.”
Garrett is excited to be a part of av福利社 and advancing its mission. A native of Tennessee, she lives in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood with her husband, daughter and dog, Banjo. She has served as a board member for Gaia Children’s Theater and Friends of Burley.
