| | 2016 av福利社 International Travel Grant Program av福利社 will award between 14 and 16 grants to professionals who work with the history of the built environment to attend the av福利社 2016 Annual International Conference in Pasadena/Los Angeles, CA, April 6-10. The grants are reserved for professionals from countries that have traditionally been underrepresented at the av福利社 conference. Generously funded by the Getty Foundation, these grants will allow recipients to participate in the conference and build upon their professional network. Applications are being accepted through August 31, 2015. |

This is a new process designed to ensure that proposals are received in a timely manner and selected programs are incorporated into the conference schedule before it is announced. |

When I began my teaching career at the Tulane School of Architecture I had a specific challenge ahead of me: re-fashioning a course entitled “History of Architecture: Ancient to Medieval” that previously centered on the Western tradition to one that had a global focus. This meant including more sites outside Europe: those found in Central and South America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia. |

He previously worked in the Office of Service-Learning at Eckerd College in Florida and holds an B.A. in international relations. His responsibilities at av福利社 include managing databases related to the Society's awards, fellowships, conference and study programs, and working with Director of Programs Kathy Sturm in planning and implementing educational programs. Higgins replaces Beth Eifrig, who recently took over as av福利社 comptroller. |

| | Wright Descendant Visits Charnley-Persky House Elizabeth Wright, granddaughter of Frank Lloyd Wright, was recently in town and stopped by for a tour of Charnley-Persky House with Keith Bringe of the Chicago Chapter of av福利社. It was her first time visiting the house, which was designed by Louis Sullivan with assistance from his then-draftsman, Frank Lloyd Wright. Peter Muller-Munk was a brilliant silversmith, a pioneering industrial designer and educator, and a visionary spokesperson for his profession. Silver to Steel is the first retrospective of his four-decade career. |

Miller House and Garden Archive A new for the , one of the nation’s most highly regarded mid-century Modernist residences has just been released. The Miller House was designed by Eero Saarinen, with interiors by Alexander Girard and landscape design by Daniel Urban Kiley. This digital collection spans 50 years and contains 17,699 downloadable images, including architectural drawings, material samples, photographs and administrative documents related to the history of the property. The 3-year digitization project was made possible by a $190,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded to the Museum in May 2012. . |

ACLS 2015-16 Competitions Open Thirty scholars of China studies from North America, Europe, and Asia received support from the Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in China Studies and the Comparative Perspectives on Chinese Culture and Society program, funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange.
