    av福利社 Announces 2016 av福利社-Getty International Program Participants
av福利社 is pleased to announce the 15 recipients of the 2016 av福利社-Getty International Program, generously funded by a grant from the Getty Foundation. Support is provided to professionals from countries that have traditionally been underrepresented at av福利社 conferences to attend the av福利社 2016 Annual International Conference in Pasadena/Los Angeles, Calif., April 6–10.

     
    New Content on av福利社 Archipedia: New Mexico
New material from the state of New Mexico, including , have been added to av福利社 Archipedia. Spanning the history of the state’s built environment, these entries comprise the first half of a list of New Mexico’s most representative buildings and sites, compiled by coordinator Christopher Mead and assistant coordinator Regina Emmer.

     
    Highlights from av福利社ARA: Pyramids
This month we’re highlighting av福利社ARA content that reflects one shape: the pyramid. In addition to the pyramids of Egypt and Central America, av福利社ARA has examples of pyramids and pyramidal shapes from the US, France, Canada, Cambodia and Poland.

     

  Mirrors of the Orient: Exhibitions of Islamic Art in Europe

As the year winds down, I would like to take the opportunity to write about a number of museum collections that I have visited since my travels began in July. Specifically, I would like to discuss exhibitions of Islamic art within Europe, several of which have been rearranged in the last few years.

ACLS Public Fellows Competition
The will place up to 21 recent humanities PhDs in two-year positions at 21 nonprofits and government agencies across the U.S. The fellowship carries a stipend of $65,000 per year, as well as individual health insurance and $3,000 toward professional development activities. Deadline March 24, 2016.

The New England Chapter (NEav福利社) has awarded Elizabeth A. Kassler-Taub the John Coolidge Research Fellowship for her topic, "At the Threshold of the Mediterranean: Architecture, Urbanism, and Identity in Early Modern Sicily." The fellowship supports the research of graduate students at a New England college or university working on topics in architectural history, the built environment, or a related field.
             
The Crescent City calls SEav福利社 to Louisiana in 2016. Timed between the 10-year mark since Hurricane Katrina and the city’s Tricentennial celebrations, SEav福利社 conference participants will be guided through New Orleans past and present in an opening address by geographer and award-winning author Richard Campanella and through the keynote address by Keith Eggener, the Marion D. Ross Distinguished Professor of Architectural History at the University of Oregon. Visit .

Following the elections of the Society of Historians of Eastern European, Eurasian, and Russian Art and Architecture (SHERA) Board, new Secretary/Treasurer Ksenia Nouril and Web News Editor Amy Bryzgel stepped in beginning January 2016. In February 2016, at CAA's 104th Annual Conference, SHERA will sponsor a double session, “Exploring Native Traditions in the Arts of Eastern Europe and Russia,” and a session, “Collecting, Curating, Canonizing, Critiquing: The Institutionalization of Eastern European Art.” Visit .
