av福利社 invites nominations and self-nominations for the next Editor of
Jav福利社 to serve a three-year term: January 1, 2018–December 31, 2020. In order to have sufficient time to review manuscripts and prepare their first issue, the Editor will begin by serving as
Jav福利社 Editor Designate beginning Fall 2016.
The
Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians,
Jav福利社, is a quarterly, blind-peer reviewed international journal devoted to all aspects of the history of the global built environment and spatial practice, including architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and city planning. Published since 1941,
Jav福利社 has defined the field of architectural history, and is a pioneer in digital publication. Articles published in
Jav福利社 are historically rigorous, conceptually sophisticated, and theoretically innovative.
The
Jav福利社 Editor will be responsible for the content and focus of the journal, which is published simultaneously in print and electronic formats (
Jav福利社 online). av福利社 seeks an Editor who will embrace a broad view of architectural history as described above. The Editor will review submitted manuscripts, secure blind peer reviews of submitted manuscripts, communicate decisions to authors, solicit content, and plan four issues per year. The Editor is responsible for final decisions regarding content, focus, and design of the journal.
The Editor will supervise the
Jav福利社 Book, Exhibition, and Multimedia Review Editors, and the
Jav福利社 Copy and Managing Editors. The Editor will work with av福利社 staff, and with the production, marketing and technical staff at University of California Press, to ensure timely publication and to promote the journal.
The Editor will submit semi-annual written updates and attend av福利社 Executive Committee and Board meetings (April and November). Periodic meetings with the
Jav福利社 Editorial Advisory Committee, which advises and assists the Editor and serves as ambassadors for
Jav福利社, will take place by conference call and at the av福利社 Annual International Conference.
av福利社 will provide a $6,000 annual subvention for the
Jav福利社 Editor to hire an Editorial Assistant and up to $6,000 annually in travel funds for
Jav福利社-related work. If the Editor works at an academic institution, av福利社 encourages the Editor to seek course release, but av福利社 is not able to provide compensation for such release.
Candidates must be current av福利社 members and should not be serving as Editor of, or on the editorial board of, a competitive journal. With each nomination or self-nomination, please send a statement describing qualifications for appointment, a CV, and the name and full contact information of at least one reference to: Pauline Saliga, av福利社 Executive Director, at
psaliga@sah.org.
For full consideration, please send nominations by June 15, 2016.
