| | Register Now for Louis Kahn in San Diego and La Jolla On Friday, November 4, 2016, av福利社 will host a study day in San Diego and La Jolla, California, exploring the work of Louis I. Kahn. The day will begin at The San Diego Museum of Art with a special, in-depth preview of the exhibition Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture, followed by a behind-the-scenes site visit at the architect's pioneering Salk Institute for Biological Studies. The study day will end with a "Friends Lecture" and reception at The San Diego Museum of Art. |

| | av福利社 Announces 2016 av福利社/Mellon Author Award Winners av福利社 has named Peter Christensen, Itohan I. Osayimese and Robin Schuldenfrei as the recipients of the 2016 av福利社/Mellon Author Awards. These awards are designed to provide financial relief to scholars who are publishing their first monograph on the history of the built environment, and who are responsible for paying for rights and permissions for images or for commissioning maps, charts or line drawings in their publications. |

| | av福利社's American Architecture and Landscape Field Trip Program Makes a Grant to I-NOMA In July 2016 av福利社 awarded the Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (I-NOMA) a $5,000 grant to support their Project Pipeline Architecture Summer Camp for Chicagoland students in the sixth through eighth grades. The mission of the annual camp is “to empower young people to affect change in their community through design.” |

With travels this month in the Vesturland, the southern portion of the Ring Road known as the Sudhurland, and a trip to Vestmannaeyjar, I logged nearly 2,000 miles in Iceland in August. Although my itinerary included only the bottom half of the nation, the distance I traversed was twice the length of the Ring Road [Route 1]. |
