monument    Confederate Monuments and Civic Values in the Wake of Charlottesville
By Dell Upton, University of California, Los Angeles
The political climate in the United States since the election of Barack Obama has brought to public view a virulent strain of white supremacy that is deeply embedded in American history and culture. Devils Tower    2017 Peterson Fellowship Report
By Willa Granger, 2017 Peterson Fellowship Recipient
Graduate study is often a tensile combination of broadening and winnowing: broadening one's knowledge of the field, while winnowing one's area of expertise. And while my schoolwork so far has certainly been exploratory, I only seem to do research and writing in the latter, honing my methodological program and scope of focus.

St Pauls    St. Paul’s Character in St. Paul’s Cathedral
By 'Deyemi Akande, 2016 H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellow
The first hint we have of the man later to become a great apostle and martyr Saint Paul was at the martyrdom of Stephen. The vicious stoning to death of Stephen is a chilling account to read, if you have a vivid imagination. So it will be easy to place Saul’s temperament for in spite of the horror, he stood and watched the slaughter with an unsettling cold calm.
