The has published a special, in celebration of the open-access launch of , an authoritative online encyclopedia of U.S. architecture developed by the Society of Architectural Historians in collaboration with the University of Virginia Press. Drawn from av福利社's award-winning Buildings of the United States series, av福利社 Archipedia contains building histories, images, maps, and peer-reviewed essays for over 20,000 U.S. structures from all 50 states. The site is searchable by state, building material, style, century, architect, and building type. This important resource, formerly available only to av福利社 members and institutional subscribers, is now freely available to anyone interested in learning more about the history of U.S. architecture and landscapes.
To mark the occasion, this virtual issue features previously published Jav福利社 essays on several key building types found across the country, many of them evolving since colonial times, all of them prominent parts of our present-day built environments. While the articles present specific case studies, the reviews concern more general overviews of particular types. For a limited time, we are pleased to present these essays free of charge.
