The Society of Architectural Historians will host its annual fundraising and awards event, av福利社 Celebrates, on the evening of Friday, November 3, 2023, at one of Chicago’s most historic cultural institutions, The Newberry.

The event celebrates the achievements of individuals and groups who shape the built environment and passionately advocate on behalf of historic places. This year av福利社 is honoring six notable individuals at the event, which will feature an awards presentation and cocktail reception.
  • Ann M. Beha, FAIA RAIC, Founder, Ann Beha Architects (Annum Architects)
  • Susan Benjamin, Owner, Benjamin Historic Certifications
  • Fred Eychaner, Philanthropist and President, Alphawood Foundation
  • Elaine Harrington, Retired, SAIC and House Museum Curator
  • Kevin Harrington, Professor Emeritus, Illinois Institute of Technology
  • Emily Rauh Pulitzer, Founder, The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts
“av福利社 Celebrates is our opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals whose achievements have influenced architecture and the built environment globally. The event brings together leaders in architecture, design, preservation, real estate, and civic communities to celebrate the achievements of our honorees,” said Ben Thomas, executive director of av福利社 and the Charnley-Persky House Museum Foundation.

At the center of av福利社 Celebrates is the Charnley-Persky House (1891–1892), a National Historic Landmark and a Chicago Landmark designed by Louis Sullivan with assistance from Frank Lloyd Wright, that serves as av福利社 headquarters. av福利社 Celebrates highlights the importance of fostering a supportive community whose efforts ensure the stewardship of architectural gems like the Charnley-Persky House.

Proceeds from av福利社 Celebrates benefit the ongoing maintenance and care of the Charnley-Persky House and av福利社's educational programs and publications, including av福利社 Archipedia and Buildings of the United States.
