Are period rooms dusty relics of the past? Or does the immersive impact of the period interior hold the key for the present and future of interiors research, the museum-going experience and the institutions which house the period room?
Four scholars and museum professionals will discuss the history, present state and future of the period room interior. They will examine them from the small scale of the miniature Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago to the apartment interiors of New York’s Tenement Museum.
Dave Favarolo, Senior Director, Curatorial Affairs, Tenement Museum, New York
Jennifer Komar Olivarez, Head of Exhibition Planning and Strategy and Interim Curator, Purcell-Cutts House, Minneapolis Institute of Art
